Another Day, Another Landmark!

With London being one of the most vibrant and historic cities in the world, our teens program has been jam packed with visits to famous landmarks.Today was like no other as we took a trip to Tower Bridge!

The students were able to step inside one of the most famous bridges in the world whilst enjoying panoramic views of the city. The bridge itself was opened in 1894 by the Prince of Wales and stands at 800 ft. It is undoubtedly an icon of London!

The exhibition itself is within the two high-level walkways, where you can learn about famous bridges from around the world as well as the history of Tower Bridge.

The students very much enjoyed the glass floor walkway feature which gave a never-seen-before view of London life!

The impressive panoramic views also gave the students the perfect opportunity to snap some pictures for our photography competition, the theme being 'icons of London.'

Did you know that in the year 1952 the bridge actually opened whilst a red double-decker bus was driving over! They were just on their way across when the bridge began to open and the driver made a split-second decision to speed up and try and make it! The bus cleared the 3 foot gap successfully and the driver was rewarded £10 for his act of bravery! We were actually able to see the bridge open today, although unfortunately we didn't spot any flying double-deckers!

Meanwhile back at Queen's Gate...

After working hard in the morning classes, our students had an exciting afternoon ahead of them! Today we were making friendship bracelets, wall art and 3D postcards, lets take a look!
