The Teens Take Tate Britain

London is home to some of the best art galleries in the world. The Tate Britain is part of the Tate network of galleries in England and opened back in 1897. It is situated just off the Thames and on Friday afternoon our teens were lucky enough to explore it themselves!

Taking the tube from Gloucester Road!

The Tate Britain is the perfect place to learn about British art as it holds the largest collection of British art in the world from 1500 to the present day.

The students focused their visit on the 'Walk through British Art' exhibition. Here they were able to walk through time learning about the past half a century of British Art. Instead of specific themes or movements in art, the display was arranged by each decade. This allowed the students to view the art chronologically whilst identifying the different themes and movements on their own.

Meanwhile back at school the junior students were busy. This week the students had two drama lessons. During these lessons they are able to practice their English, gain confidence and have some fun!

The students are also encouraged to gain skills outside of the classroom. For example this week the students created some colourful origami sculptures.

And finally a big happy birthday to Fatimah from our teen class who turned 16 on Friday!

See you in week 6!
